12:43 < th> some time ago telnet was disabled by default
12:43 < th> that was ok
12:48 < huebi> th: Rocklinux is for admins and experienced users (or users who want to become experienced fast). Rocklinux is secure by default, too. So if you want to enable a service you're forced to know what you do and you also must enable the services you want. Now inetd.conf is more in that style. (imagine starting inetd on CCC and your box is wide open to everyone who wants to have fun with it. ;-)
12:48 < th> ack
12:48 < th> huebi: i would even appreciate some DROP-default-policies for iptables in /etc/conf/network
12:50 < huebi> th: If you have some ideas for it let's discuss it on the mailing list. I think, with good comments why what is done, even for firewall beginners it's a very good idea.
12:52 < huebi> th: What do you think about an /etc/conf/firewall?
12:52 < th> huebi: i just created one for me
12:53 < th> i did that by /etc/init.d/firewall before...
12:53 < th> but now that i'm restructuring things i decided for /etc/conf/firewall some minutes ago
12:53 < th> /etc/conf/network runs that for me
12:53 < huebi> koool
12:54 < huebi> Very good. I thought the same.
12:54 < huebi> if the network starts it _must_ call /etc/conf/firewall so you can't forget it in accident.
12:55 < huebi> and it calls it immediatly.
12:55 < th> it's called just before echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
12:56 < huebi> th: can you put some comments in it and send it to the mailing list?
12:57 < th> it's very specific
12:57 < th> to my network here
12:58 < huebi> th: If you explain it it should work too.

23:00 < tsa> the stages being built before chroot?
23:01 < Be-El> yeap...as soon as the chroot is used build breaks...
23:01 < Be-El> or (to be correct)..as soon as packages needs libraries which are not installed in /usr/lib....like the /usr/X11R6/lib stuff...;-)
23:02 < tsa> hm...i didn't encounter this problem last time i tried...
23:02 < Be-El> tsa: clean build ?
23:02 < tsa> Be-El: yes.
23:02 < Be-El> hmm...
23:04 < tsa> i guess you have some software installed in "untypical" locations. the early stages before chrooting link against libs installed there because of your /etc/ld.so.conf...when the chroot() is actually entered, these locations are unreachable and therefore your build fails..
23:05 < Be-El> /usr/X11R6/lib is no "untypical location" ;-)
23:05 < tsa> anyway, this shouldn't happen since the chroot environment at that point should contain all the stuff needed
23:05 < tsa> hehe..indeed.
23:06 < Be-El> it _do_ contain all the stuff....but without any usable library setup
23:07 < Be-El> adding /usr/X11R6/lib to ld.so.conf and running ldconfig in the chroot fixes the problem
23:07 < Be-El> .oO ( and adding $GNOME1_PREFIX, $GNOME2_PREFIX and $KDE_PREFIX later.... )
23:08 < tsa> hm...i'd suggest you add /usr/X11R6/lib to ld_so_inst() in package/base/ld.so/ld.so.conf
23:09 < tsa> do you have a symlink /usr/X11 -> /usr/X11R6 in the chroot ?
