12:41 < blindcoder> GAH
12:41 < blindcoder> 39,40 EUR, that's the correct one
12:45 < netrunner> blindcoder: i guess not.
12:45 < netrunner> blindcoder: does kamp use tdsl?
12:48 < blindcoder> yes, you'll be VPN'ed into their network
12:49 < blindcoder> I'm currently thinking about a second "Telefonanschluss" so that I can connect a second machine with hte static IP and rezvverse-lookup for animeftp.net there
12:49 < blindcoder> oh, and i should take spelling lessons
13:13 < netrunner> blindcoder: I don't mind ;)

13:26 < esden> hehe ... the wall sucked netrunner in ;-)
13:26 < esden> nice
13:27 * blindcoder comes flying up through the floor underneath esden and cuts him in half with a two-handed sword
13:27 * netrunner aka 'the wall' begins to throw stones at esden

13:46 < blindcoder> 'course they were!
13:46 < blindcoder> That's what's usually know as "wall hack"
13:47 < blindcoder> and usually players get banned for that!
13:47 < blindcoder> Well, Morpheus "banned" them in the end :-)
13:47 < netrunner> blindcoder: which leads to a fire-wall hack what lets them in again :)

15:29 < daja77> re
15:30 < wawo> Installed new beta 6 iso desktop, for I guess I did not set the network to startup. Anyway when I do a network start command every thing works ok but the DNS is not set, what need to be run to get the DNS from DHCP?
15:32 < daja77> /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart, perhaps?
15:32 < netrunner> wawo: you're sure your dhcpd gives out dns adresses?
15:34 < wawo> yes I looked at the lease file and the DNS info is in there. When I do ifconfig all looks fine as far as it sets the ipaddress etc. just the DNS is not getting set. I have done "network stop" and then "network start" and still the same, no errors given.
15:35 < netrunner> wawo your /etc/resolv.conf writable by root? (try to move it to another dir/rename it and reget dhcp info)

18:37 < daja77> I'd like to watch him drinking :)
18:38 < blindcoder> it's not a pretty sight, believe me...
18:39 < blindcoder> brb
18:43 < daja77> hehe
18:47 < esden> blindcoder: I want a Gutmann too!!!
18:48 < blindcoder> have none
18:48 < daja77> wtf is gutmann
18:49 < blindcoder> a certain brew of beer
18:49 < daja77> ic
18:50 < netrunner> hm ... my recent desktop build only offers gnome as wm ... can I somehow query all packages if they are wms to add them?
18:51 < daja77> huh?
18:51 < daja77> offers where?
18:52 < esden> netrunner: gnome is default ...
18:53 < daja77> you can change this in stone ...
18:53 < esden> there is also wmaker, kde ...
18:53 < daja77> blackbox
18:54 < esden> but fluxbox is missing >_<
18:54 < daja77> esden: add it!
18:54 < esden> netrunner: echo "wmaker" > .xinitrc
18:54 < esden> that will help ;-)
18:54 * -> esden saw wmaker on netrunner's laptop
18:54 < Mike1> wmaker.inst is all you need to run..
18:55 < esden> daja77: when I am awake I will add it ...
18:55 < esden> Mike1: the line above is enough too
18:55 < daja77> I thought that you are still sleeping ...
18:55 < Mike1> esden: too long :)
18:56 < esden> daja77: I am ...
18:56 < daja77> *AARGL*
18:56 < esden> o_O
18:57 < daja77> just found out that all the downloads failed here at work and _still_ can't start new rt build >_<
19:01 < netrunner> esden: I know some of the installed wms by name, yes. But I'd like them to be included in /etc/opt/gnome2/dm/*.desktop automatically.
19:01 < netrunner> and I think there was a hook responsible for that, no?
19:09 < netrunner> I want to know which wms I have on my system ...
19:10 * daja77 screams a bit
19:10 < netrunner> daja77: whaazaaap?
19:11 < daja77> damn network setup at work + borken network card which is slower than isdn >_<
19:11 < daja77> that was a 100mbit card ...
19:17 < netrunner> daja77: maybe you didn't read carefully enough and it's a 100kbit card?
19:18 < daja77> :P
19:18 < daja77> this is fscking realtek card, 'nuff said
19:20 < daja77> hmm maybe I shouldn't use tu-darmstadt mirror
19:36 < rolla> yawn
19:37 < daja77> hey rolla
19:37 < daja77> rxr: you got isos :)
19:37 < daja77> will add description later
19:38 < daja77> can't concentrate here
19:48 < rolla> wie geht's daja77
19:49 * daja77 slightly pissed at work, but ok
19:49 < daja77> *gna* mirror detection sucks
19:49 < Freak> yea.. being pissed at work isnt good.
19:50 < Freak> for such matters I always had trousers and a tshirt to change in my car.
19:50 < rolla> ha ha ha
19:51 < daja77> ok selected mirror manually :(
19:52 * daja77 off to party now
19:52 < daja77> I need it :)

19:55 < Freak> rolla: ya talkin to me, stranger?
19:55 < rolla> yes
19:56 < Freak> holiday was up yesterday. I'm now officially post-zdl
19:56 < rolla> post-zdl?
19:56 < Freak> oui
19:57 < rolla> was ist das?
19:57 < Freak> post = after, zdl = ZuvielDienstLeistender
19:58 < rolla> I know what post is but I am not so sure of the tranlation on ZuvielDienstLeistender
20:00 < cchamilt> hi
20:00 < Freak> hehe
20:01 < cchamilt> how do you fill a conditional in bash when checking if there is more than zero of something
20:01 < cchamilt> if [ `ls /dev/discs/*/part*` ] ...
20:03 < netrunner> cchamilt: maybe something like `ls -l bla | wc -l` (should be true sins gt 0
20:04 < cchamilt> hmm, maybe it is for bootdisk, so trying not to use much more than bash itself
20:04 < cchamilt> I will go see if wc is in it
20:05 < cchamilt> Yeah, it is - Thanks!

20:11 < rxr> cchamilt: why not simply perform the normal path-name expansion and evalutae if it has content ?
20:11 < netrunner> moin tcr
20:11 < rxr> not external fluff ...
20:11 < rxr> hi tcr
20:11 < netrunner> rxr: sorry, I am a bit fluffy ;)
20:12 < cchamilt> rxr: ? [ -f /dev/discs/disc*/part* ]
20:12 < tcr> hi cchamilt. I'm happy meeting you; want to talk to you about something, if you don't mind. Later..
20:12 < cchamilt> OK
20:13 < rxr> cchamilt: nope this will fail if there is more then one partition
20:14 < cchamilt> yep
20:14 < cchamilt> So how do you mean?
20:14 < netrunner> rxr: something else, in my recent drock build all the wm's did not get registered in gdm. you know why?
20:19 < cchamilt> rxr: Still don't see it...
20:19 < tcr> (If I got you right:) [ "$(echo /dev/discs/disc*/part*)" != "/dev/discs/disc*/part*" ]
20:20 < tcr> If you put the second comparator in '', then it's even easier to read
20:21 < cchamilt> tcr: hmm not sure about that
20:22 < cchamilt> What I want to do is check if partitions exist and if so ask if it is OK to remove them.
20:23 < tcr> [ "$(echo /dev/discs/disc*/part*)" != '/dev/discs/disc*/part*' ]; echo $?
20:23 < tcr> [ "$(echo /dev/BLAHBLAH/DOES_NOT_EXIST)" != '/dev/BLAHBLAH/DOES_NOT_EXIST' ]; echo $?
20:24 < cchamilt> it doesnt appear to work
20:25 < cchamilt> it echos 0 for all things, and I do have partitions on this machine :)
20:25 < tcr> the second one does too?
20:26 < cchamilt> It seems condition on the first expresion $echo... and the other side of the != state could be anything?
20:27 < tcr> how do you mean
20:27 < cchamilt> I mean the echo... is the only part that matters - i change '/dev/discs/disc*/part*' to '/dev/discs/disc*/pard*'
20:27 < cchamilt> And it still worked
20:28 < tcr> No both comparators matter
20:28 < cchamilt> if I change the echo, then it returns 1
20:28 < cchamilt> hmm
20:29 < tcr> Wait a moment, I might got an influence how it could be even easened
20:30 < tcr> no, false assumption
20:32 < tcr> So the trick about the above test command is that the echo part does filename expansion, if possible; but, if this expansion isn't possible, echo will just give the actual string (incl. the metachars), and to catch up that case, we have to test whether the output of echo is equal to the string (that's meant to be expanded)
20:33 < tcr> Grok it? And so it's logically necessary to adopt both sides
20:34 < cchamilt> but my bash doesnt seem to
20:34 < cchamilt> the blah example should fail right?
20:35 < tcr> yes

20:53 < cchamilt> I am just thinking dumb things.
20:53 < netrunner> rxr: ah. is there a reason that default for cron is not to run in runlevel 5?
20:57 < rxr> yes - historically ROCK only uses 2 and 3 ...
20:57 < rxr> but the cron stuff is run after the installation - so it should be there ...
21:00 < netrunner> rxr: I think the cron script is wrong. the Session stuff is needed to be in /etc/opt/gnome2/dm/Session and not in /etc/opt/gnome2/gdm/Session
