[16:36] <kurihara> hello
[16:36] <daja77> hi
[16:36] <kurihara> i'm japanese
[16:37] <daja77> well that was easy to see
[16:37] <kurihara> There are some questions about RockLinux.
[16:38] <kurihara> What is the package system of RockLinux using?
[16:38] <daja77> rocklinux has its own package format called gem that can be used with 'mine' package manager
[16:39] <kurihara> humm
[16:40] <kurihara> rpm like?
[16:41] <daja77> without building capabilities
[16:41] <daja77> and there is rocket an apt like tool
[16:41] <kurihara> ok cool!!!
[16:50] <kurihara> Can ReiserFS be used?
[16:50] <daja77> yes
[16:51] <kurihara> pakage install_
[16:51] <kurihara> ?
[16:51] <daja77> hm?
[16:52] <kurihara> Should I install it in it?
[16:53] <daja77> i don't get your question, if you should use reiserfs for your install?
[16:59] <stf^rocklinux> hi all
[17:04] <kurihara> hi
[17:05] <stf^rocklinux> kurihara: there's no simple answer to your question; ext3fs, reiserfs and other file systems each have their pros and cons, and I'm no expert on file systems, so I don't know the details.
[17:06] <stf^rocklinux> If you don't have a reason to use a certain fs, my suggestion is to stick with the default, which is ext3. But using reiserfs or other (journaling) fs shouldn't hurt either.
[17:10] <kurihara> funn
[17:17] <stf^rocklinux> btw. ROCK Linux can also create packages in .tar.bz2 format which can be installed with tar (but not with mine). You can easily convert the .gem format to .tar.bz2 and vice versa.
[17:20] <stf^rocklinux> Also, it doesn't matter whether a package was installed from a .gem or a .tar.bz2; you can mix them as you like, and once it is installed you can remove/query/update them with 'mine'.
