[08:21] <blindcoder> moin
[09:36] Action: [raphael] is back
[09:37] <[raphael]> moin moin
[09:41] <blindcoder> moin [raphael]
[10:27] <esden> good morning
[10:28] <blindcoder> moin esden
[10:57] <blindcoder> wow
[10:57] <blindcoder> that was the first spam mail actually confessing that it is spam
[10:58] <blindcoder> "You receive this email because we rent an emailing list that contains your address."
[10:59] [anders-mcafee] ([email protected]) left irc: Read error: 113 (No route to host)
[11:14] <[raphael]> blindcoder: I recently got emails offering me email addresses for sale.
[11:19] <blindcoder> same here
[11:19] <blindcoder> agentur españa?
[11:20] <[raphael]> blindcoder: yes, exactly
[11:21] <[raphael]> I wonder whether that's actually legal
[11:22] <[raphael]> I mean seriously, I never get a mail asking me whether they "may" use or "sell" my email address for advertising purposes
[11:24] <blindcoder> well, you can try to get a hold of them :)
[11:25] <[raphael]> I once tracked down one such email and it turned out that Conrad had sold my email address
[11:28] <[raphael]> as this company was somehow a "partner" or whatever (don't remember exactly) from conrad, ... no wait, that was even my postal address. And a 3rd party agency was involved with "labeling" the ads with my address - so the original company sending out the material didn't even directly know about me. That's a really tricky business (and this way they also comply to "Datenschutzrichtlinien").
[11:29] <blindcoder> heh
[11:29] Action: blindcoder loves his several hundred email addresses
[11:29] <blindcoder> so I exactly know which mail address went where
[11:30] <[raphael]> Datenschutzrichtlinie = privacy policy
[11:30] <blindcoder> and if I need to give out snail mail addresses without actually ordering something I give out a munich address of a brothel
[11:30] <blindcoder> yeah, I know :)
[11:32] <[raphael]> Well, the good thing is that it turned out there is a "Robinson" list that I can add myself to. This means that I won't get any such ads anymore at all (to my postal address that is). I would be glad if sth like this would exist for email addresses, because then you know you could sue (,...) anyone sending you unwanted ads...
[11:33] <blindcoder> YAY! A list of real live email addresses I can use from my spamporium in the next best banana state!
[11:33] <blindcoder> you see why something like that doesn't exist?
[11:35] <esden> humm ... I should create a task force ... that is tracking down spammers ... and telling them if they do not stop sending spam they will die ... and if they do not hear that we will start cutting off their fingers
[11:35] <blindcoder> hehe
[11:36] <blindcoder> esden: what was that movie? where they "help" you to quit smoking?
[11:36] <esden> o_|O
[11:36] <blindcoder> there was this movie about a company that helps you to quit smoking
[11:36] <esden> no idea
[11:37] <blindcoder> if you smoke a cigarette, they will cut off one finger
[11:37] <esden> rofl
[11:37] <blindcoder> next one: they cut off a hand
[11:37] <blindcoder> next: they kill your wife and kids
[11:37] <blindcoder> next: they kill you
[11:37] <blindcoder> so: one way or another, you will stop smoking :)
[11:37] <esden> lol ... cool
[11:38] <blindcoder> somewhat like "The Game"
[11:38] <esden> humm ... an anti spam company ... the one way or another they will stop sending spam ;)
[11:38] <blindcoder> hehe
[11:39] <esden> new image online
[11:40] <blindcoder> esden: who's standing there it the background
[11:42] <esden> dunno ... noone afaik ...
[11:44] <[raphael]> The Robinson list actually exists, here in Austria at least. It's something official, probably also tied to the law and/or government (I don't know any details though)
[11:45] <blindcoder> [raphael]: yeah, and some micronesian spammer will give a shit about that law
[11:47] <[raphael]> blindcoder: I know
[11:48] <[raphael]> and it's not for email addresses, just for postal addresses, that's the problem
[11:48] <blindcoder> ah, okay
[11:49] <blindcoder> well, I have a big "Keine Werbung - Keine Zeitungen" sticker on my "briefkasten"
[11:49] <blindcoder> that does the trick here
[11:49] <blindcoder> and the ones ignoring that get a nice e-mail from me
[11:49] <blindcoder> and there hasn't been one that has not replied yet :D
[11:50] <[raphael]> heh :)
[11:51] <blindcoder> I've done the job of delivering those 'werbezettel' myself for a few years
[11:51] <blindcoder> I know the drill to take ;)
[12:00] <blindcoder> fsck
[12:00] <blindcoder> these potatoes are hard cooking
[12:00] <blindcoder> I wanted soft cookign ones :(
