How To Install And Setup the NVIDIA Proprietary Display Driver

General Procedure

First, install the nvidia package:

rocket emerge nvidia

Then, run the NVIDIA installer and follow on-screen instructions:

cd /usr/src/nvidia
./nvidia-installer

Finally, use nvidia-xconfig to adapt your X configuration file, e.g.:

nvidia-xconfig

To finetune your NVIDIA graphics card setting, use the command

nvidia-settings

This is a graphical application.
